FIP Roadshow visits Minot AFB

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. --  Members of the Force Improvement Program Roadshow visited Minot Air Force Base July 8-10.
 
The FIP team roadshow, made up of Airmen from Air Force Global Strike Command and 20th Air Force, held eight town hall meetings to provide the program's most recent findings and also request feedback from Airmen.

"The goal of the town hall meetings is to pass information to the force," said Maj. Ray Vann, Headquarters FIP operations lead. "Right now this program is huge; it's moving very quickly."
Personnel across the Air Force, to include the Air Staff and the Major Command, are working hard to bring improvements to the quality of life, daily operations and the overall mission of Global Strike Command.

"The ICBM and the bomber career field both want improvements made to the MAJCOM, so the things that are being looked at are base improvements and quality of life improvements," said Vann. "Money is being allocated to the wings to purchase items they've needed for a while and haven't had the money for."

Vann explained they are also purchasing new vehicles, and changing the way they train and evaluate on the ICBM side.

"We're looking at a holistic approach to what the MAJCOM needs to accomplish and using all of our funds to execute that." Vann added.

The FIP was created as an aggressive, action-oriented effort with the goal of making rapid and substantial change to the ICBM and bomber missions, and designed from the ground-up as a field-level initiative to draw on the experiences of Airmen at all levels.

One of the improvements coming out of the ICBM FIP for the Security Forces Group is the modern defender initiative. This initiative will replace Defenders' current gear with up-to-date gear.

"For the Operations Groups, we've actually been able to purchase a new line of vehicles for all wings," said Vann. "Hopefully, at the end of August 2014, the first vehicles from that order should be showing up."

The FIP gives Airmen an opportunity to make real, visible and enduring changes to their command.
In a letter to all Airmen, AFGSC Commander Lt. Gen. Stephen Wilson stated, "We are making changes both culturally and institutionally to improve our Command and we will look at all FIP results to find efficiencies and make improvements. However, we should never forget that mission success is dependent on the actions of each individual in our command."
