The 5th Force Support Squadron is hosting Community Quest, August 1st starting at 4 p.m. in the J.R. Rockers parking lot.

"The game is an Air Force-wide, new initiative that is designed to boost not only morale, but the community also," said Susan Wagers, 5th FSS special programs coordinator.

Community Quest is a spinoff of "The Amazing Race" television show. In both competitions, teams compete against each other in a scavenger-hunt-style race, receive clues about their destinations, and pursue challenges to win prizes. In the reality show, teams race around the world. However, in Community Quest, teams race around Minot AFB.

Community Quest participants will assemble a two-person team to solve clues leading them from one location to another on Minot AFB. The competition tests each team's physical and mental abilities in various challenges at various locations on base.

"Community Quest is set up to have a whole community impact," said Wagers. "Anyone who wants to be involved can be."

Besides the satisfaction of claiming victory, the winning Community Quest team receives a $300 cash prize. The team finishing second is awarded a $200 cash prize while the third place team walks away with a $100 cash prize. In addition, all Community Quest participants receive a free T-shirt, and chances at other prizes and giveaways.

Only 50 team spots are available for the Community Quest event. Spots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To register your team, simply visit the 5th FSS website at www.5thforcesupport.com and click on the Community Quest registration icon. Deadline for entries is July 25 or earlier if the team limit is reached. Children 12 and older may participate when accompanied by a parent or guardian as the second team member. Team members are encouraged to dress up in team attire for the event.

Those not participating in the challenge are invited to enjoy a Quest Party beginning at 4 p.m. There will be great music, and children can enjoy games provided by employees of Family Child Care from 5p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the J.R. Rockers parking lot. After working up an appetite, participants and non-participants alike are sure to savor the free food from 6p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the J.R. Rockers parking lot. The menu includes burgers, hot dogs, chips and a drink.
