Base officials announced Wednesday that Northern Neighbors Day 2007 will be held Sept. 8, 2007.

Headlining the show will be the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.

"We're extremely proud to have the Thunderbirds headlining next year's Northern Neighbors Day," said Col. Eldon Woodie, 5th Bomb Wing commander. "We are looking forward to an incredible performance and sharing that experience with the best community in the country and our friends in greater North Dakota and Canada."

The Thunderbirds are the Air Force's premier aerial demonstration team. The Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. based unit is made up of eight pilots (including six demonstration pilots), four support officers, three civilians and more than 130 enlisted Airmen performing in 25 career fields.

A Thunderbirds air demonstration is a mix of formation flying and solo routines. The four-aircraft diamond formation demonstrates the training and precision of Air Force pilots, while the solo aircraft highlight the maximum capabilities of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Admission and parking for Northern Neighbors Day are free. Additional acts and demonstrations will be announced as they are confirmed.
