New fit test information Published May 18, 2010 By Tech. Sgt. Paul Nixon 5th Bomb Wing Staff Unit Fitness Program Manager MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The new fitness program will be upon us very soon and there are many questions on the minds of Minot's Airmen. Below are some of those questions that may be asked, as well as some helpful links to serve us in our attempt to meet those minimum requirements or achieve excellence. 1. What is that new thing called again? Where is it at? - Fitness Assessment Cell (FAC)/ Co-located with the HAWC in the fitness center 2. Who are the assessors? - Civilians trained to perform the AF Fitness Assessment 3. How will I get notified/scheduled for a fit-test? - A Unit Fitness Program Manager will notify the tester when they are coming due two months out. The tester will need to select a date/time to test when they are one month out. - Testers will be given greater flexibility on testing dates and times. For instance, in July, the FAC is offering testing on every week day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting every hour on the hour with 12 slots per hour available. 4. Where is the test going to be held? - At the fitness center. Timed run will be on the outdoor track as long as weather permits. Otherwise, it will be on the indoor track. 5. How will we be able to run/utilize the track when there is testing going on all day long? - They (Fitness Center Staff) are working on a couple of solutions for this. 1. They plan on marking a running track around the basketball courts on the first floor. 2. They are looking to add more cardio equipment to the gym. 3. The suggestion was made, and I believe they will follow, to divide the outdoor track and have testing be performed on the inside and have the outside open to anyone wishing to exercise. 6. What if I fail? - Leadership will be notified, a case file will be built (and forwarded to UFPM), the failing tester will be scheduled to attend the next available Healthy Living Program (HLP) Class. UFPM will manage from that point forward. - As of now all of the following will go away under the new program. (1975's, HLP follow-ups, BCIP classes, Fitness Review Panels) 7. Is the test any different? - No. However, the standards have changed and we must meet those minimums.
