Open Mic Night, an initiative by the Improving Morale Together Committee, was held at J.R. Rockers here June 11 as a way of boosting morale and general camaraderie among Minot's Airmen.

The IMT committee is dedicated to improving Airmen's awareness of activities both on base and downtown.

"The committee's function is to promote positive behavior across Minot AFB by providing Airmen a central line of communication between themselves and the primary points of contact responsible for services, functions and events provided on-base," said Tech. Sgt. LaToya Stewart, 5th Bomb Wing noncommissioned officer-in-charge of scheduling and IMT committee president.

The Open Mic Night performances included poetry and various genres of music. The event is scheduled to occur on a regular basis, Sergeant Stewart added.

"Airmen's morale would increase if they feel they've had more of a say in what happens on base and feel more involved when obtaining entertainment, social events and functions that they've suggested or chosen," said Staff Sgt. Brian Wyche, 5th Bomb Wing AFSO21 master process owner and IMT committee vice president. "These efforts would therefore produce maximum participation and promote a more positive environment reducing negative behavior."

Upcoming events include:
· Reoccurring Open Mic Night
· Roller Skating Party
· Cosmic Bowling Party

The IMT committee meets every third Friday of the month at 3 p.m. in the Community Center common grounds.
