A1C Alexandria Steiger is an Aerospace Medical Technician for the 5th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron.

“Being an Aerospace Medical technician means that I’m a certified EMT, with skills in nursing,” said Steiger. “Here, I work in a clinic and I have worked here for almost two years now. I work under a PA checking in patients and reviewing records throughout the day.”

Steiger is originally from a small town called Mobridge in South Dakota. She became a member of Team Minot in May 2019.
Once a week she teaches religious education to second-graders at the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

“My hometown is only a few hours away, so I get to visit family a lot,” said Steiger. “I like it here, but I just got approved for ‘Palace Chase,’ so I’ll be leaving here towards the end of April.”

Steiger has a passion for working with kids and is transferring to the North Dakota Air National Guard so she can pursue a degree in elementary education. If she would have not been approved for Palace Chase, then she would have ideally moved to the pediatric clinic where she could still work with children.

“Originally I wanted to go to school for nursing when I very first came in, and I thought ‘Oh a medical job, perfect!’ but, I think I definitely want to keep doing this on the side,” said Steiger. “That’s why I am going to keep my job in the guard too because I like having the EMT aspect of it.”

Although she is leaving to join the North Dakota Air National Guard, she will miss Team Minot.

“Minot is like a second home to me,” Steiger said. “All of us technicians are super close here too. Since Minot is a smaller base, you have to make the most of it, and you get really close to each other and it really is like a second family.”
