90th Anniversary of 5th Bomb Wing: Aug. 15, 2009

The organization has been through much in its lengthy history. A few chapters that come to mind are: the bombing of the Mauna Loa volcano to stop a lava flow threatening the city of Hilo, the destruction of their airfield at Hickam, and the beginning of nearly four years of combat in the Pacific.

New outdoor archery range on target

Outdoor Recreation is set to unveil its new outdoor archery range here during a grand opening beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 15. Bio tests Readiness

Bioenvironmental participate in exercise here, Aug. 5. The exercise was designed to compare all Air Combat Command bases' response procedures and select the best teams to compete against other major commands, across the Air Force.

Dorm Construction Continues

The new dormitories are being built to accommodate the base's influx of new Airmen in support of Global Strike Command. The dorms will be more modern and updated to provide Airmen with a comfortable home.  Dorm estimated to be completed on Mar. 1.
