Out & About with the Chief: Minot AFB Tower
Minot AFB Tower is responsible for the safe and orderly flow of all air traffic within 98.5 square miles of Minot AFB from surface to up to 2,500 feet. Controllers assigned to MAFB Tower are individually responsible for surveillance of 11K square foot airfield while coordinating and/or controlling the movement of all aircraft and vehicle movement on the taxiways and the runway. The controllers train and perform these duties utilizing state of the art equipment valued in excess of $8.5M. Today we will be highlighting our training capabilities through the use of the simulator. We will also discuss the upcoming challenges during the projected runway closure specifically regarding maintaining proficiency as required by regulatory guidance. (Courtesy photo)
