Colonel GEORGE L. CHAPMAN

Colonel George L. Chapman is the Deputy Commander, 91st Missile Wing, Minot Air Force Base (AFB), N.D. In this role, he assists leading the wing’s 1,800 personnel as they operate, maintain, and secure 150 Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs), 15 missile alert facilities, and 150 remote launch facilities located throughout an 8,500 square-mile missile complex in N.D. Combat-ready Airman provide a safe, secure, and reliable nuclear capability to credibly hold at-risk targets worldwide, ever-poised to accomplish the Air Force’s core mission of global strike.

Colonel Chapman grew up in an Air Force family and received his commission in 2003 from the Reserve Officer Training program at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. He has served in a variety of positions, including an instructor assignment to the U.S. Air Force Weapons School. His notable staff tours include Aide-de-Camp to the Commander, Twentieth Air Force/Task Force-214; executive officer to the Commander, U.S. Air Force Warfare Center; Senior U.S. Fellow at the George C. Marshall European Center for International Security Studies, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany; as an Executive Officer to the Commander, U.S. Central Command; and as the Nuclear and Missile Operations Officer (13N) Career Field Manager.

Colonel Chapman has commanded an operational nuclear missile squadron, receiving distinction as Air Force Global Strike Command’s “best ICBM squadron.” Prior to assuming his current position, Colonel Chapman served as Chief, Nuclear Force Development Division, Directorate of Strategic and Nuclear Integration, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.

Colonel Chapman is a master nuclear and missile operations officer with more than 5,560 hours of nuclear alert duty.
