The 2013 North Dakota State Fair set an attendance record. The fair ran from July 19 - 27 and attracted an estimated 320,485 individuals. With small events including pig racing, face painting, and caricature drawings, to big events featuring Lady Houdini, stock car races, and big country names like Tim McGraw and Toby Keith, there was no shortage of fun. The specialty food also drew a lot of the community to the fair as well. Top-selling food items included red velvet funnel cakes and bacon-glazed cinnamon rolls. Whether people attended for the entertainment or for food, this year's fair was North Dakota's biggest yet.
