Team Shockwave pays it forward Published Nov. 18, 2013 By 705th Munitions Squadron Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- On Sept. 21, athletes from around the world had the opportunity to come together and participate in the 17th Annual U.S. Air Force Marathon. Minot Air Force Base's 705th Munitions Squadron's "Team Shockwave," led by Senior Master Sgt. David Flosi, traveled to Dayton, Ohio to participate. Through dedicated fund raising efforts and strong community support, the seven members of Team Shockwave were able to make the trip at zero cost to the Air Force. At the two-day event, team members were given the option to complete either the full or half marathon. The team was also able to donate $4,823 to The Fisher House; the second largest donation made to the foundation during the marathon. The Fisher House offers a "home away from home" to service members, veterans and their families at no cost while loved ones receive specialized medical care at hospitals or U.S. Veterans Affairs facilities across the country. There are 60 houses currently operating on donations alone. Fundraising teams like Shockwave allow for The Fisher House to fund additional construction and procurement projects to sustain service members and their families for years to come. "There is was no better way to celebrate the birth of the Air Force than raising money toward an organization that supports our Air Force family," said Flosi. Congratulations Team Shockwave! Full Marathon: Senior Master Sgt. David Flosi and Senior Airman Eldon Holiman. Half Marathon: Senior Master Sgt. Justin Deisch, Senior Master Sgt. Larry Dostart, Master Sgt. Jeffery Sodano, Tech Sgt. William Shultz, and Staff Sgt. John Miner. For those interested in donating to The Fisher House, Team Shockwave is accepting donations until the end of the year: http://www.teamfisherhouse.org/goto/Flosi
