Team Minot celebrated the grand opening of the exchange mobile center kiosk at the Base Exchange June 12, 2014.

Working with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, the mobile center will seek to provide service members and their families with the same options and availability regardless of duty station, said Todd Chinn, regional manager for a third-party provider of wireless products and services.

"Our mission stems from the AAFES mission - we go where you go," said Chinn. "We look to provide the same quality service you would get anywhere else, even overseas."

The new kiosk is stocked with some of the most well known brands, and the most popular accessories.

"Here we carry services like Verizon and AT&T," said Chinn. "We also have things like phone and tablet cases."

The mobile kiosk, which has been in the works for approximately four years, will provide services such as plans and coverage, as well as phone and tablet activations. The main purpose of the kiosk was to give new Airmen and their families an easier transition to the area, due to the commute to town and the limited cell phone towers, added Chinn.

"Because here at Minot we're so far from town, the kiosk will give families a chance to receive personalized service without having such a long commute," said Lisa Anderson, services business manager for the Minot and Grand Forks areas.

Bill Doty, a district manager with the same company as Chinn, said he is more than excited to begin servicing Team Minot.

"We do a ton of work with the military throughout the branches," said Doty. "We are eager to begin in Minot and are just thrilled to be here."

As part of their mission, the BX is always striving to better serve the families on base, and they plan to continue aiming for a more convenient, reliable exchange.

"The thing we do best is serve the military," said Chinn. "We know you as customers, we know your needs, and we're proud to be a part of the military community."
