Five Airmen from the 69th Bomb Squadron were selected to represent Minot Air Force Base as one of the aircrew teams for 2014 Global Strike Challenge bomber competition.
"We're very excited and proud to be representing," said Capt. Will Hacker, 69th Bomb Squadron aircraft commander.

The 69th BS will compete against 10 other bomb squadron teams throughout Air Force Global Strike Command. Their competition consists of two B-1B Lancer teams, one B-2 Spirit team and seven B-52H Stratofortress teams, including three teams from Minot.

"We'll be competing to see who can drop the best bombs and be the most accurate at what we do," said Hacker.

The team has been preparing by learning general knowledge and practicing flight paths in a simulator.

"The main thing is making sure we have good crew coordination," said Hacker. "We've prepared for this by going to our simulator, the Weapons System Trainer, and practicing the bomb runs together."

With one of their team members "fresh back from weapons school," the 69th BS is prepared to take home the win.

"We have a very good outlook here," said Hacker. "We've been training hard, so we're ready to go out there and dominate."

Members of the 69th BS team include:
Capt. Will "Trojan" Hacker - aircraft commander
Capt. Britt Nemeth - pilot
Capt. Daniel "Gonk" Sullivan - radar navigator
Capt. Jeff "Alpine" Ward - navigator
Capt. Alex "Auto" Benson - electronic warfare officer
