The Deputy Director of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service met with Airmen and community members during his visit to the base Tuesday.

During his visit, Maj. Gen. Joseph Ward toured the Exchange's facilities and discussed how the Exchange can better serve its customers, to include expanding its assortment of name-brand merchandise.

"I'm excited to visit Minot, and I want our Airmen to know that serving them and their families is our top priority," Ward said. "They deserve nothing but the best, and we want to earn their business."

Maj. Gen. Ward is one of 52 active duty service members assigned to the Exchange. It also employs more than 36,000 civilian associates worldwide.

During his visit, Maj. Gen. Ward met with Minot shoppers, Exchange associates and answered questions about the Exchange. He focused on the importance of bringing top brands to the Minot Exchange, part of providing a first-class shopping experience.

"We've stepped up our game, and we're bringing the top national brands to the Exchange," Maj. Gen. Ward said. "Shoppers will see brands like Michael Kors, Under Armour, Apple, Nike and more at the Minot Exchange and online at shopmyexchange.com."

"Prices on name brands at the Exchange are extremely competitive," Maj. Gen. Ward added. "Plus, for every dollar earned, 67 cents goes right back to the military community for the Air Force Services dividend. Last year sales at Minot Exchange generated more than $461,000 on behalf of Services programs."

The Exchange is a joint non-appropriated fund instrumentality of the Department of Defense with a retail mission to provide quality products, services and food to service members, their families, Reserve and Guard members, plus military retirees. Exchange sales generate earnings to supplement Air Force Service programs.
