Mandatory winter safety briefings Friday

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. --  Winter presents unique challenges for Minot Airmen when it comes to completing the strategic deterrence mission in austere weather conditions. The extremely cold environment has led to numerous Airmen being injured, in some cases fatally. 

For this reason, the wing is holding a mandatory safety day Friday during which all Team Minot members are required to attend one of three briefings at the base theater:  9 a.m., 11 a.m. or 1 p.m.  Please arrive early enough to be seated before the briefing begins, and fill seats from front to back.

Those whose missions prevent them from physically attending at the base theater must attend a briefing virtually at https://connect.dco.dod.mil/livestream. 

Air Force leaders take a proactive approach each winter season to protect Airmen and their families.  Accidents are going to happen, but a majority of mishaps are avoidable by simply having a plan and the right information.  Therefore, Friday's briefing topics will include winter safety, risk management /complacency, and the FY14 mishap recap. 

While it is true "Only the BEST come North", unfortunately even the best can become a statistic in a safety mishap.  Don't be another statistic!
