NEWS RELEASE: 11 May 2015 Suspicious Backpack

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. --  Minot Air Force Base officials are taking necessary precautions to protect their people, facilities and equipment after the base found a suspicious backpack at 9:30 a.m., May 11 at the 5th Medical Group. 

Until they determine the credibility of the threat, base officials have evacuated the clinic of buildings and closed the main gate as a precaution.

Base emergency response teams are currently on scene.  More information will be released as it becomes available.

UPDATE:  As of 11:07 a.m., officials have determined there was no immediate threat. The incident is still under investigation.

The main gate is now open.
