Seeing the Unseen Published Aug. 31, 2015 By Senior Airman Stephanie Morris Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Senior Airman Kyle Abendroth, 5th Maintenance Squadron non-destructive inspection journeyman, checks for part deficiencies using chemical bathes, black lights and a magnetic particle machine at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., Aug. 24, 2015. NDI Airmen are able to use X-rays, chemical developers, black lights and magnetism to detect deficiencies in aircraft and ground equipment parts without having to further damage them. The NDI processes help to pin point deficiencies that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye ensuring the bases aircraft and equipment are mission ready inside and out.
