Before the exercise began, firefighters were given a safety briefing about responding to the simulated B-52H Stratofortress engine fire. The purpose of the exercise was to grade the firefighters ability to work as a team to shutdown the aircraft, extinguish a simulated engine fire and evacuate and treat two victims. The two training dummies represented injured personnel, one in the cockpit and the other outside the aircraft, were used to test firefighters ability to evacuate victims from difficult locations. The exercise lasted about an hour and tested the ability of 15 members of the 5th CES fire department to work as a team. (U.S. Air Force photos/Airman 1st Class Justin T. Armstrong)
