Air Force Ball honors tradition and legacy Published Sept. 22, 2015 By Senior Airman Apryl Hall Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Nearly 700 members of Team Minot attended the 68th Annual Air Force Ball at Minot Air Force Base, N.D., Sept., 2015. Held in the phase dock, the World War II-themed event featured vintage decorations, a military uniform-clad swing band, a P-51 Mustang, among other 1940's highlights. The guest speaker for the evening was WWII veteran Leo Makelky, who shared stories about his time in the ball turret of a B-17 Flying Fortress during the war.
