Halloween is coming up and we all know what that means, kids with their parents going door-to-door trick-or-treating asking for candy, haunted houses, jack-o-lanterns, the list goes on. Here are some tips on how to make your Halloween enjoyable, and safe.

· Make sure your child is accompanied by an adult, or if you feel that they're old enough, allow them to travel in a group of children their age.

· If your child is not trick-or-treating in base housing this year, make sure you know the area that they will be ringing doorbells at.

· Make sure that candles or jack-o-lanterns are at a safe distance from any bushes or where a costume could catch fire from it.

· Have your child carry a flashlight, glow stick, reflective tape or even a light saber, depending on their costume choice this year, to ensure that they are visible to cars.

· When driving through yours or a friend's neighborhood this Halloween make sure to do the speed limit and be extra cautious of your surroundings. If kids want candy, they may not use a crosswalk to get to their next house.

· Before your kid consumes any of his or her prized candy, inspect it first.

· Last but not least, if you are providing candy for trick or treaters this year, make sure to leave a porch light on so they know which houses to go to, and if you are not, turn your porch light off to ensure you don't get any kids looking for candy.

Have a safe and fun Halloween!
