U.S. Air Force Staff Sgts. Matthew Hardwig and Justin Yochum, 5th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron aerospace repair and reclamation craftsman and journeyman, replace a drag chute on a B-52H Stratofortress at RAF Fairford, United Kingdom, June 13, 2016, following a Saber Strike 16 mission. The drag chute is a 43.5-foot diameter ribbon-type chute which consists of a pilot chute, long bridle, short bridle, main chute, riser terminal and riser boot. It is deployed to assist in slowing the aircraft during the landing roll and alleviate wear on the brakes. The chute's system consists of mechanisms which are used to close the drag chute door and to deploy and jettison the drag chute. (U.S. Air Force photos/ Senior Airman Sahara. L. Fales)
