The 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron proudly opened its new government vehicle carwash Dec. 15, 2006.

Team Minot has been without an automated carwash since 2004 after the previous one broke down due to a water main break. Repairing the previous carwash was not feasible since the renovation would have cost more than $10,000 and the facility was due for an overhaul.

After much research, the 5th LRS was awarded funds to purchase a fully automated, brushless carwash.

The new equipment is fully equipped with infrared sensors, underbody wash, wax applicator and even a touchpad to record vehicle registration numbers. As a fully automated carwash, it will minimize damage to the base's fleet of government-owned vehicles while significantly reducing man-hours spent hand-washing vehicles.

"It's a nice addition to the base and a tremendous piece of equipment," said Col. Eldon Woodie, 5th Bomb Wing commander.

The carwash operating hours will be from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 723-3274.
