Minot Air Force Base now has a new beauty shop.

The new Stylique Salon opened for business in the Base Exchange complex Sept. 4 and began offering a variety of different services to include hair cuts, coloring, perms, styles and limited waxing. The new salon features brand new renovations and all new equipment, giving it a professional and modern look.

"The people of the base have been asking for a beauty salon at almost every base advisory meeting since the last salon closed almost four years ago," said Lisa Anderson, Army Air Force Exchange Service business manager.

According to the new beauty salon manager, Brenda Fraley, the salon is a convenient alternative for people who would prefer to have their hair done on base.

"It is so much easier for people who live on base to have a salon just right down the road," she said.

The new salon also promises to be cost effective for Airmen and their families. AAFES conducts price surveys for base facilities and charges 20 percent less than local businesses.

According to Ms. Anderson, AAFES is always trying to provide for the base.

"A percentage of the money earned goes back to morale, welfare and recreation programs to enhance the lives of Airmen and their families," she said.

In the future, AAFES wishes to expand the services Stylique Salon provides by adding manicures, pedicures and massages to the salon's current services.
