Shall we dance? Published Aug. 26, 2008 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- A group of beginners learned the fundamentals of dance at the McAdoo Sports and Fitness Center the night of Aug. 21 here. "This is a wonderful opportunity for people to try something new," said 2nd Lt. Kidron Vestal, MAFB Public Affairs deputy chief, who instructed the class. "Dancing helps people more than just physically but mentally and socially as well." When preparing for the class, the lieutenant, who started dancing 10 years ago, said she had to remember how she learned the fundamentals to teach them. "It was refreshing to brush up on the basics," Lieutenant Vestal said. "I taught the foundations I felt were current with general instructions everyone could understand." "I enjoyed the class a lot," said Senior Airman Sharida Jackson, MAFB Public Affairs photographer. "The moves look simple, but they really aren't. Lieutenant Vestal did a great job teaching the class and she made sure she gave plenty of positive reinforcement." The class was so successful, the fitness center director has turned it into an on-going event. Dance class will be held every Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the base fitness center.
