The library has a lid on the cold.

A self-service coffee bar, recently unveiled at the Minot AFB library, is now open for business. One dollar will provide a cup of personalized brewery perfection.

While the amenities are grand, patrons are charged only what is necessary to maintain the service. Library director Lindsey Guderjahn said the not for-profit function will not be going away any time soon.

Much research preceded the starting-up of the coffee bar, and the single-serving maker was chosen for its ability to provide the freshest cup of coffee possible. More advanced equipment may be introduced later. Col. Joel Westa, 5th Bomb Wing commander, provided the finishing touch by supplying the furniture for which the library is grateful.

The service will run on the same schedule as the library's hours of operation: open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
