Family fun at Fall Festival Published Sept. 10, 2008 By Missy Ewing Fall Fest Cordinator MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 741st Missile Squadron will hold the 10th annual Fall Festival scheduled for Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Shoppette parking lot here. The main attraction will be a scarecrow-making area. For $5, one will get a kit with everything needed to make a life-size scarecrow, including a shirt and a pair of jeans. There will also be a bake sale, sponsored by the 741st MS, which will feature homemade caramel apples. Kids, and maybe some kids at heart, will have the chance to play fun games and win prizes. There will also be face-painting available. Several other 91st Missile Wing organizations are participating in this year's event. Besides the wide variety of crafts which offer a little something for everyone, the units have planned a variety of activities. The 742nd MS will bring back last year's popular bouncy castle; the 91st Maintenance Group will feature a pumpkin-painting station; and the 91st Security Forces Group will bring a humvee for everyone view, as well as the opportunity to put someone in "jail" where the prisoner will have to pay to be released. Also, the 5th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department's mascot, Sparky, will be in attendance along with a fire truck. McGruff the Crime Dog will also be on hand to help families prepare finger-print samples for their children. This year's coordinators are Missy Ewing, Chelsea Neal and Yvette Simmons, all from the 741st MS Spouses' Club. They, along with many spouses and Airmen from the 741st MS, have worked intently throughout the year to make sure this year's event is one of the best ever and a fun-filled time for the entire family. The inclement weather site will be at the Bully Dome.
