The 2008 Combined Federal Campaign begins Oct. 10 runs until Nov 21.

This year's campaign goal is $118,000. Last year, base personnel donated over $139,000 to benefit CFC charities.

Established in 1961, the CFC is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country and the only campaign authorized to solicit and collect contributions from federal employees in the workplace. This annual fall fundraising drive allows nearly 4 million federal employees and service members to contribute to thousands of local and national non-profit organizations.

Contributions by Minot AFB, have led to Minot being the largest CFC contributor in the State of North Dakota, something to be proud of. The money donated, not only goes out to national organizations, but also helps the local community. Overall, $45,000 was contributed back into the Minot city community last year.

"This year's CFC campaign continues Minot AFB's long tradition of giving," said Capt. Jeffrey Hensley, base CFC coordinator. "The Minot area CFC campaign is the largest in North Dakota due largely in part the generosity of base personnel."

During the last completed CFC, federal employees and service members donated a record-setting $271. Since its inception in 1961, the federal community has donated more than $5.75 billion to the CFC. Contributions can be made in cash, check or by payroll deduction. Donors may designate which charity, or charities, receive their money by filling out a pledge card.
