Breast cancer awareness events held at JDC Published Oct. 8, 2008 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th Medical Group will host the 4th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Event and Quilt Project at the Jimmy Doolittle Center here Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. Cost for the dinner of southern fried chicken and sliced barbecue beef brisket is $12 for club members and $15 for non-members. Dinner will be followed by guest speakers Heidi Heitkamp and Jennifer Boone. The finale will be the quilt auction; nearly 40 pieces are available for auction this year. All proceeds are donated to the Combined Federal Campaign for breast cancer research. RSVPs are required. There will also be a health fair at the JDC from 3 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. held the same day, Oct. 23 with themed baskets will on display. Attendees may donate money to the Combined Federal Campaign for breast cancer research for a chance to win a basket. Any group or individual may donate a themed basket for this event. The baskets are displayed at the event and event attendees may donate money to the fundraiser for a chance to win a particular themed basket. Drawings for the baskets are held during the event.
