2nd annual Operation HEROES to kick off

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. --  The second annual "Operation HEROES" will be activated here Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will "deploy" local youth to KIDakastan.

"Operation HEROES" is a fun-filled processing line/deployment experience for kids and families. Pre-register at Operation HEROES Headquarters (the Airman and Family Readiness Center) Oct. 9 to 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All registered "deployers" will be issued military orders, pre-deployment checklists, uniforms (t-shirts), dog tags, etc. Deployers will also get a chance to walk through deployed living quarters, participate in interactive displays, touch and ask questions about Minot AFB equipment, and experience field rations.

The goal of the event is to foster communication on deployment matters and give families a better understanding of the deployment experience.
