The 2009 Combined Federal Campaign kicked off Oct. 19 and runs until Nov. 20. This year, Team Minot's campaign goal is $130,000. Last year, the goal for the base was $118,000. The total amount raised was $151,437!

This year's campaign theme is "Helping Our World Forward".

Established in 1961, the CFC is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country and the only campaign authorized to solicit and collect contributions from federal employees in the workplace. This annual fall fundraising drive allows nearly 4 million federal employees and service members to contribute to thousands of local and national non-profit organizations.

"Pledges made by donors support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human-service benefits throughout the world," said Capt. Aubrie Jones, base CFC project officer. "An individual's contribution can be designated to a local, national or international organization. This way, the individual can ensure their donation goes to meet the needs they feel are most important."

Last year, federal employees and service members donated a record-setting $274.5 million to the campaign. Since its inception in 1961, the federal community has donated more than $6 billion to the CFC. Contributions can be made through squadron or group representatives in cash, check or by payroll deduction. Donors may designate which charity, or charities, receive their money by filling out a pledge form.

"We all can make a difference in our world one donation at a time," Captain Jones said.
