CFC closes out ‘09 with a bang Published Dec. 14, 2009 By Senior Airman Wesley Wright Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- In 2008, Team Minot blew previous Combined Federal Campaign records out of the water when it raised $151,437. This year, the records fell again as Team Minot gave $188,388.15 in support of non-profit organizations. The 2009 CFC ran from Oct. 19 to Nov. 25 with the theme, "Helping Our World Forward." The goal amount set was $130,000. "It was a huge success thanks to the generosity and support of everyone who donated," said. Capt. Aubrie Jones, base CFC project officer. Since its inception in 1961, the federal community has donated more than $6 billion to the CFC. Contributions can be made through squadron or group representatives in cash, check or by payroll deduction. Donors designate which charity, or charities, receive their money by filling out a pledge form. This year's campaign also saw an increase in participation, up 10 percent from last year. "The amazing giving spirit currently has Minot AFB leading the way in ACC/AFGSC for total contributions and funds raised," Captain Jones said. "More importantly, during this time of economic hardship around the country, your contributions will help ensure critical helping agencies have the funds they need to continue to provide vital services to people in need." According to Captain Jones, the huge success this year would not have happened without the dedicated CFC representatives who were tasked with making 100 percent contact with the units assigned to them. "I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of the squadron and group representatives who helped ensure the success of this year's campaign through their dedication and perseverance," the captain said. "It was a strong fourth quarter rally, none of which would have been possible, without caring and compassionate individuals who continue to put service before self. I would also like to thank Souris Valley United Way for their outstanding support and continuous community partnership." [Editor's note: Capt. Aubrie Jones contributed to this article.]
