The security contract at Minot Air Force Base installation entry points will continue to be funded through September 30, 2012, according to Air Force officials. With the additional funding, contractors will continue to man the visitor control center, vehicle search positions and entry control points.

Chenega Security and Protection Services, based out of Virginia, currently holds the contract for installation entry control at Minot Air Force Base. That contract had been slated to end effective September 30, 2010 because funding was withdrawn from the base.

"I am glad to continue to have these professionals working alongside our 5th Security Forces Squadron in defending Minot Air Force Base," said Col. Doug Cox, 5th Bomb Wing Commander. "They are a valuable addition to Team Minot, supporting our ability to practice our wartime mission."

"There is no doubt Chenega is going to continue to be a huge help to us," said Colonel Cox. "We look forward to their continued presence here."
