Senator Conrad stresses critical importance of Minot AFB Published June 2, 2010 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- North Dakota Senator Kent Conrad honored Minot Air Force Base with a visit here June 1. Senator Conrad began his visit watching B-52H Stratofortresses departing on their way to Andersen AFB, Guam, in support of U.S. Pacific Command's continuous bomber presence in the Asia-Pacific region. He also met with 5th Bomb Wing operations and maintenance crew members. Later, he met with spouses of deployed Minot Airmen at the Jimmy Doolittle Center and spoke with Col. Douglas Cox, 5th Bomb Wing commander, and Colonel Fred Stoss, 91st Missile Wing commander, to discuss the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. According to the senator Minot Air Force Base has a secure future and will continue to be critical to national security.
