Military appreciation day at Roosevelt Park Zoo Published June 14, 2010 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The Roosevelt Park Zoo has scheduled a military appreciation day for June 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. here. A meal will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All active duty personnel , Guard, Reserve and veterans as well as their families can gain access to the zoo with a valid military identification card. "This is a great opportunity to give our hard working Airmen some well deserved time with wingmen and families," said Col. Douglas Cox, 5th Bomb Wing commander. "Additionally, this opportunity will support the community relationship." Colonel Cox has designated the Roosevelt Park Zoo as an alternate duty location from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. He has cleared supervisors and commanders to release personnel at 11 a.m. to enjoy the afternoon with family and friends. He expressed great gratitude to the base's leadership and personnel when he said: "Thanks for taking care of your people and the mission!" The Roosevelt Park Zoo is located at 1219 Burdick Expressway East. The zoo is a member of the Minot Park District.
