Air Force leadership has always stressed the importance of maintaining an excellent physical fitness, not only because it promotes a healthy lifestyle, but it ensures Airmen are fit to fight.

The McAdoo Sports & Fitness Center here is a first-rate gym equipped with state of the art exercise equipment that provides Air Force Global Strike Command and Team Minot Airmen the tools necessary to meet their required physical fitness needs. The facility is used by many here, especially during cold Minot winters.

One of the newest additions to the fitness center is the Power Blendz smoothie bar, which offers an assortment of healthy and nutritious drinks aimed to help people with their physical fitness goals.

Ashley Macias, manager of the Power Blendz smoothie bar, believes in providing quality drink supplement options is very important.

"The smoothie bar gives gym-users a healthier alternative to energy drinks," Mrs. Macias said. "Our shakes are designed to help people workout. Their delicious taste acts as a good motivator to keep working."

Power Blendz offers a variety of health drinks ranging from fat burning beverages to muscle gaining thirst-quenchers. There are also ten drink flavors for customers to choose from, which include peach, raspberry, and strawberry among others.

Eugina Bennett, a receptionist, explained some of the benefits to the wellness behind the smoothie bar.

"We provide people with the type of drinks that will help them meet their physical needs," said Mrs. Bennett. "They can choose from fat burning drinks which help people lose weight or energy recovery shakes for after a hard workout."

She added they offer meal replacements for those who are busy and constantly on the go.

Mrs. Bennet said since the smoothie bar's opening, four months ago, it has had great business.

"I have worked here since the smoothie bar opened," said Mrs. Bennett. "And it has been busy ever since then."

She believes the smoothies are great motivators and morale boosters, which make people come back for more, adding, "We have regulars now that come enjoy our great smoothies on a regular basis."

Mrs. Macias said the owners of the Power Blendz smoothie bar, Master Sgt. Kendrick Bergeron, 5th Maintenance Squadron production superintendent, and his wife Tinisha Bergeron, had a vision to help gym users meet their physical fitness goals.

"The owners aspired to open a smoothie bar because they wanted to provide healthy choices for people working out," Mrs. Macias said.

She added the gym had been lacking a healthy drink bar and decided to take on the task of opening one in order to offer gym-patrons here healthy drink options.

For those looking for drink supplements to help with their physical fitness goals, they'll know they have the Power Blendz to supply them with the right beverages.
