Update on base conservation methods

The base has begun to gradually rescind water restrictions to coincide with the easing of the City of Minot's water restrictions, including a lifting of the boil water order here.

The washing of aircraft and mission vehicles based on mission needs has now been permitted. The base has also allowed the AAFES and Auto Hobby Shop car washes to open, and is currently allowing the golf course to carry out limited watering, to prevent long-term and costly damages to the course.

Nonetheless, just like Minot, we are still under other water conservation measures, including the prohibition of watering yards and lawns and washing POV's in military family housing. Residents are also encouraged to reduce use for dishwashing, clothes washing and other similar activities. Wading pools and backyard water toys (slip 'n slide, etc.) should not be used routinely or for extended periods.

We expect some of these additional restrictions to be lifted or modified soon and will keep you updated with the latest information as early as possible. For questions on water safety, contact the 5th Medical Group bioenvironmental engineering at 723-5151.

Thank you for your continued efforts in helping the base conserve water while the City works to restore their water system.
