Date extended for household goods storage

The commander of Minot AFB has authorized short distance moves and non-temporary storage to vacating local economy quarters for displaced Airmen and their dependents.

Col. James Dawkins, 5th Bomb Wing commander, authorized this order in response to historic flooding of the Souris River Valley, which led to the evacuation of more than 1,100 Airmen and their families. The order has been revised to extend the date to Aug. 26.

The authorization applies to all active duty military and dependents of active duty military whose permanent residence is located in the evacuation area.

The evacuation area includes residences within McHenry, Renville, and Ward Counties ordered evacuate by state of North Dakota civilian authorities.

This order allows for up to 180 days of storage at government expense. Additional storage after the initial 180 days will be at the expense of the member and/or dependent.

All household goods shipment and storage requests under this order must be initiated with the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron and the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office before Aug. 26. Actual pick-up, transport and storage can begin after the application date as necessary.

All affected members should report to their chain of command for further instructions.
