The 2011 Minot Air Force Base Combined Federal Campaign bagan Oct. 3 and is planned to run until Nov. 4.

This year, Team Minot's campaign goal is $155,000. The goal for the base military populace was $145,000 last year. The total amount contributed in 2010 by both military and civilian was a base record of $191,926.

Established in 1961, the CFC is the world's largest and most successful workplace charity campaign, with more than 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country, as well as internationally.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the CFC, which provides a great opportunity to truly highlight the generosity, caring and giving that has been provided in the past 50 years, along with paving the path of charity for the next 50 years to come.

"This annual fall fundraising opportunity allows nearly 4 million federal employees and service members to contribute to thousands of eligible local and national non-profit organizations," said Capt Zachary Proano, 23rd Bomb Squadron CFC installation project officer. "Last year, Minot AFB personnel demonstrated their continued support for the Minot area by contributing $23,600 back into the local community. This year, more than ever, is a time when Team Minot has the ability to have an even greater impact on the local community."

Since its inception in 1961, the federal community has donated more than $6 billion to the CFC. Contributions can be made through squadron or group representatives in cash, check or by payroll deduction. Donors may designate which charity, or charities, are to receive their money by filling out a pledge form.

This year's Minot AFB campaign theme is "50 Years of Giving Hope". In these difficult economic times and a year surrounded by natural disasters, we can provide aid and hope to those struggling individuals and families who need it most. Each member of the Minot AFB family can make a difference.
