Household goods storage authorization extended Published Dec. 16, 2011 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- On Dec. 15, Col. James Dawkins, 5th Bomb Wing commander, extended the authorization for short distance moves and non-temporary storage to vacating local economy quarters for displaced Airmen and their dependents. The new authorization allows for up to 360 days of storage at government expense, 180 days more than originally authorized. Additional storage after the 360 days will be at the expense of the member and/or dependent. Authorization of this extension is in response to continual efforts to provide assistance to Airmen and their families affected by the historic flooding of the Souris River Valley this summer. The authorization applies to all active duty military and dependents of active duty military whose permanent residence was located in the evacuation area. The areas ordered evacuated by state of North Dakota civilian authoritiesincluded residences within McHenry, Renville, and Ward Counties.
