The Northern Neighbors Day open house, originally scheduled for Aug. 25, is cancelled.

The Canadian Snowbirds aerial demonstration team is slated to provide Minot a special flood recovery performance on Jul. 4.

"The base will gladly support the Minot Air Show Committee with volunteers as requested," said Pat Travnicek, deputy director Northern Neighbors Day. "We look forward to supporting this event for the Souris Valley flood victims, their families, and the entire community."

Since 2009, traditionally the base has held its Northern Neighbors Day open house/air show during even numbered years and Fargo in the odd numbered years to de-conflict the two events.

"It didn't make sense to have an air show downtown and one at the base within several weeks of each other," said Col James Dawkins Jr., 5th Bomb Wing commander. "We determined it would be best to cancel our projected air show, and focus our support on the City of Minot's air show. We certainly will look to host our traditional Northern Neighbors Day event in the future."
