IDEA program to give away 32-inch TV Published April 23, 2012 By Senior Airman Jose L. Hernandez Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Team Minot's Innovative Development through Employee Awareness program began a four-month long competition April 15. Every individual, whose idea is approved during the four month time frame, will garner one ticket towards a drawing where they will have the opportunity to win a 32-inch LCD High Definition TV. The program will be giving away the TV as a prize following the conclusion of the competition on July 16. The IDEA program is an Air Force sponsored initiative that gives Airmen an opportunity to improve their work environment in a more resourceful and efficient way by submitting a potentially cost-savings idea, no matter how big or small. The program is a popular one Air Force-wide. For the first two quarters of fiscal year 2012, there have been more than 3,900 IDEA submissions, 1,356 which have been approved. The approved ideas are projected to save the Air Force approximately $16 million. Monetary rewards for approved ideas can range from $200 to the maximum of $10,000. Long term cost savings theoretically offset any award given, which is why monetary rewards can be offered. To be eligible, an idea must be original and have the intent of benefiting the government. Also, the idea does not always have to save money but can be designed to boost the morale of a unit or organization. Any individual here at Minot Air Force Base can submit an idea; however, only active duty military and appropriated fund employees are eligible for cash awards. Submit your IDEA by visiting www.minot.af.mil/units/ideaprogram.asp. The more IDEAs submitted the more chances there are to win the grand prize. Contact the Minot AFB IDEA Program manager at 723-3900 for questions or any further information.
