54th Helicopter Squadron, 5th Bomb Wing, and the 23rd Bomb Squadron announced as best in the command Published April 5, 2012 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Team Minot's 54th Helicopter Squadron was recently announced as the best operating Helo Squadron in Air Force Global Strike Command. The 54th HS's primary mission is to support the 91st Missile Wing with highly skilled pilots and flight engineers with well-maintained UH-1N helicopters to respond as necessary to make sure missile complexes scattered through North Dakota are safe and secure. The 54th HS allows the Air Force to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations in a timely manner. In addition, the 5th Bomb Wing and the 23rd Bomb Squadron were awarded this past week at the Commander's Conference as the best in AFGSC. Col. James C. Dawkins, the 5th Bomb Wing Commander, accepted the awards on behalf of the 5th Bomb Wing. "The trophies are being mailed to us for all to see," said Dawkins. "Congratulations. You owned It!"
