‘Trunk-or-Treat’ fun on Halloween Published Nov. 7, 2012 By 2nd Lt. Jose R. Davis Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron hosted the 'Trunk-or-Treat' Halloween event for all Airmen and their families here, Oct. 31. The Trunk-or-Treat festivities occurred at the 5th LRS's Vehicle Operations Building, near the recreation center, where children and their parents could enjoy the Halloween celebration in a warm and comfortable environment. The Airmen who hosted the event decorated their vehicles with a diverse range of Halloween-type ornamentations. With their vehicles parked in the building, they gave out candy to a plenitude of happy and rambunctious costume-clad children. Those who volunteered their time and their vehicles also partook in the fun; many were dressed in their own unique Halloween getups. The Trunk-or-Treat also featured a small haunted house for kids to walk in and get a fun fright. The line for the indoor haunted house stretched a good distance as families waited anxiously to explore what was in the spooky enclosure. The event lasted for three hours, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., as families came and went at their leisure. With the Trunk-or-Treat event considered a success by the 5th LRS, hopefully this Minot Air Force Base tradition endures for future Halloweens to come, especially when the cold temperatures of North Dakota during the latter part of October make it difficult for traditional trick-or-treating. The low in Minot on Halloween this year was 28 degrees.
