MEDIA ADVISORY - Arrest made in relation to threat Published Dec. 21, 2012 Minot Air Force Base Public Affairs MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The individual who allegedly called in the threat to Minot AFB was arrested in coordination with multiple local, state and federal authorities. Yesterday, Dr. Mark Vollmer, Superintendent for Minot Public Schools, temporarily initiated a lock down of all Minot AFB's schools to include: Dakota Elementary, North Plains Elementary, Memorial Middle School and the Head Start facility, after the base received a telephone threat Dec. 20 against one of those facilities on base. The lock down of the schools was shortly lifted and Minot AFB's schools resumed normal operations. "We take any and all threats seriously," said Col. James Dawkins Jr., 5th Bomb Wing Commander. "We will continue to work with Minot Public Schools to ensure the safety of our schools and people." The 5th Security Forces Squadron conducted additional security checks of all Minot AFB's schools. The Head Start facility on base is closed until further notice. Minot Public Schools cancelled classes for Friday, Dec. 21, which includes Dakota Elementary, North Plains Elementary and Memorial Middle School.
