SSgt. Amanda West, a California native, is the NCO in charge of Aircraft Maintenance Unit scheduling. She makes maintenance schedules for maintainers on the flight line and distributes it throughout the squadrons.

“A really strong inspiration in my life is MSgt. Select Ashley Ross,” said West. “I think that everyone hits rough patches in their life, and she gave me a new perspective that you can overcome any hardship.”

West says she is transitioning into a leadership role. She says her goal is to improve her Airmen and show them anything is possible.

“I feel like a lot of women in maintenance have it rough because they think we’re not as capable,” said West.

West says she is most proud of her Community College of the Air Force degree. She says she’s had plenty of good opportunities to advance in her career, and she’s gained a lot of knowledge throughout her Air Force career.

“There are so many women in the military making big changes right now,” said West. “I am just out here proving that I can do my job just as well as anyone else.”
