Ensuring aircraft safety with precision: Non-Destructive Inspection

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Jonathan Macias, 5th Maintenance Squadron non-destructive inspection (NDI) journeyman, looks over an x-ray image of an aircraft containing water trapment damage at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, June 6, 2024. Water trapment occurs when water seeps into the panels of the aircraft and then freezes, causing the water to expand and crush the core of the panel. This inspection method is used to view damage that wouldn't normally be seen from the exterior. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Luis Gomez)
