The 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron Vehicle Maintenance Tiger Team, epitomized the 5th Bomb Wing commander’s vision of mission ownership. With great ingenuity, a pair of technicians analyzed a long standing problem of insufficient UA-HMMWV floor heat and devised a solution within two hours. They built a team to modify 109 vehicles, using existing components to redirect air flow to the vehicle floor board and providing much needed warmth for 5th BW and 91st Missile Wing Defenders. AFGSC adopted this 30-minute modification for implementation on all northern-tier fleets to dramatically improve quality of life for Defenders across the command. Additionally, the team installed 110-volt power inverters on the UA-HMMWVs to facilitate installation of heated floor mats, providing a barrier between frozen armor floor plating and the occupants’ feet, enabling Defenders to focus on nuclear security objectives during winter operations. This Vehicle Maintenance team is proud to take ownership of the mission and is dedicated to providing only the best service to their customers.
