Airfield Management activates the secondary crash net, and relays critical, time sensitive information regarding aircraft in-flight and ground emergencies to over 12 first responders. Airfield Management assists pilots with pre-flight planning functions, disseminates approximately 9.6 thousand flight plans per year into the National Airspace System and issues Notices to Airmen to relay safety of flight information to aircrew across the globe. Additionally, Airfield Management inspects over 11 million square feet of airfield daily which includes checking for obstructions to air navigation, monitoring construction projects, identifying foreign object debris, pavement distresses  and verifying that all airfield signs and markings are correctly displayed. Airfield Management also directs snow control operations and establishes snow removal priorities. Finally, Airfield Management oversees the Wing’s Airfield Driving Program and trains over 1300 drivers annually to operate vehicles safely on the airfield.
