MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Col. James Dawkins Jr., 5th Bomb Wing commander, presented Mr. Wade Vinje, from the 5th Contracting Squadron, and Senior Airman James E. Engelman, from the 705th Munitions Squadron, with the Own It Award for the month of September. Both of them exemplified the commanders vision of mission ownership. Engelman devised a solution that enabled both the immediate download of four missiles and reduced a replacement operation, that typically takes three days to complete, down to only one shift. Without the steadfast dedication of Mr. Vinje, Minot Air Force Base would not have secured the improved weather forecasts and observations capability required to ensure "safe, secure, and reliable" nuclear deterrence.
