The 5th Security Forces Squadron’s Installation Security Section performs both Electronics Security and Physical Security functions for the base. On the Electronics Security side, they manage the installation’s $22 million sensor system and the $12 million remote target engagement system. They conduct quarterly and annual adversarial system testing, monitor sensor system malfunctions and upgrades, and track preventive and corrective actions to ensure the system is 100 percent intruder detection capable. On the Physical Security side, they ensure the installation’s restricted areas are in compliance with Department of Defense and Air Force requirements by conducting weekly and monthly inspections and coordinating discrepancies with base agencies for prompt corrective action. Both sections are pivotal to safeguarding $5.5 billion worth of Protection Level One assets within the Weapons Storage Area. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Andrew Crawford)
